§ 117080 Governmental Agency Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law defines what a 'governmental agency' is—it includes cities, counties, and districts, but not chartered cities or counties.
  • •A 'body of water' here means a reservoir or lake, not rivers or oceans.
  • •If something is 'owned,' it means it is either owned or controlled by someone.

Example

A city wants to build a park next to a lake.

The city is a 'governmental agency' under this law, and the lake is a 'body of water.' If the city controls the land around the lake, it is considered 'owned' by them.
