§ 113889 Food Facility Remodel Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •If you change or fix big parts of a food place (like a restaurant or food truck), you might need a permit from the city.
  • •For food trucks or temporary food stands, even replacing or changing important equipment counts as a 'remodel' and may need a permit.
  • •Small fixes (like painting or fixing a light) probably don’t need a permit, but big changes (like replacing a stove or fridge) do.

Example

A food truck owner wants to replace the old grill with a bigger, newer one.

Since the grill is a big and important piece of equipment, this change counts as a 'remodel.' The owner must get a permit from the city before doing it.
