§ 112893 Alpha-Tocopherol In Olive Oil

• •You can add a vitamin called alpha-tocopherol to certain types of olive oil to replace what was lost when the oil was cleaned.
• •The amount of alpha-tocopherol you add cannot be more than 200 milligrams for every kilogram of olive oil.
• •This rule applies to refined olive oil, regular olive oil, refined olive-pomace oil, and olive-pomace oil.

A company makes refined olive oil and wants to add alpha-tocopherol to it.

The company can add alpha-tocopherol to replace what was lost during refining, but they must make sure not to add more than 200 milligrams per kilogram of oil. If they add too much, they are breaking the law.
