§ 112535 Frozen Food Locker Sanitation

Key Takeaways

  • •Frozen food locker plants must always be clean and sanitary.
  • •All equipment and utensils must be cleaned before and after each use, and stored safely to avoid contamination.
  • •Lockers must be thoroughly cleaned before being given to a new customer.
  • •Food must be protected from dirt, insects, and any unclean practices that could spoil it or harm nearby food.

Example

A frozen food locker plant rents out lockers to customers to store their frozen foods.

The plant must ensure that the lockers, equipment, and the entire premises are always clean. For example, if a customer returns a locker, the plant must clean it thoroughly before renting it to someone else. If they don’t, and the new customer’s food gets spoiled because of dirt or bugs from the previous user, the plant is breaking the law.
