§ 111665 Cosmetic Color Additive Safety

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't just put any color in makeup or cosmetics.
  • •The color has to be approved by special rules first.
  • •If the color isn't approved, it's not safe to use in makeup.

Example

A company wants to make bright blue lipstick using a new dye.

They can't sell it unless the government has a rule saying that blue dye is safe for lips. If they use it without approval, it's against the law.
