§ 110290 Misleading Product Labeling Standards

This law says that ads or labels for food, drugs, or beauty products can't trick you. They must tell the truth and not hide important facts.

Key Takeaways

  • •Ads and labels must tell the whole truth about a product.
  • •They can't leave out important facts that might change your mind about buying it.
  • •Even pictures, sounds, or designs can be misleading if they trick you.

Example

A shampoo ad says it makes hair grow super fast but doesn't mention it can cause hair loss for some people.

The ad is misleading because it hides a bad side effect, which breaks this law.
