§ 103795 Unauthorized Birth Certificate Use

This law says that if you use information from a birth certificate that has a special authorized stamp, you can be charged with a misdemeanor.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only use birth‑certificate info if it doesn't have the special authorized stamp.
  • •Using stamped info is a criminal offense, not just a civil mistake.
  • •The penalty is a misdemeanor, which can include fines or jail time.

Example

A person copies the name, birth date, and parents' names from a stamped birth certificate and sells that info to a marketing company.

Because the birth certificate had the authorized stamp, using that personal data without permission breaks the law and could lead to a misdemeanor charge.
