§ 103025 Fetal Death Certificate Requirements

This law says a fetal death certificate must have two parts: one that shows the basic facts of the death, and another that holds medical details marked as confidential and kept private.

Key Takeaways

  • •The certificate is split into two sections.
  • •The first section shows the basic facts that prove a fetal death happened.
  • •The second section holds medical and health info, is clearly labeled confidential, and must be kept secret.

Example

A hospital fills out a fetal death certificate after a pregnancy ends. The first part lists the date and place of the death, while the second part includes the mother's health information, which is labeled “Confidential Information for Public Health Use Only.”

The hospital follows the rule by separating the basic facts from the medical data, and the medical data stays secret as required by the law.
