§ 101285 County Vector Control Transfer

This law lets a county hand over its mosquito control work to a special district, as long as the district covers the same area and the county keeps meeting the required standards.

Key Takeaways

  • •A county can move mosquito control duties to a district if the district covers the same territory.
  • •The county must still meet all minimum standards and keep the program at that level.
  • •The district must be created under the Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control District Law.

Example

A county decides to stop doing its own mosquito spraying and wants the local mosquito district to take over the job.

The county can do this if the district's boundaries include the same area, and it must still follow the rules and keep the service at the required level to keep its funding.
