§ 101275 County Environmental Health Transfer

This law lets a county move all its environmental health and sanitation work from the health department to another county agency, as long as the director agrees and the services stay as good or better.

Key Takeaways

  • •The county board can transfer all environmental health and sanitation duties to another county agency.
  • •The transfer must have the director’s concurrence.
  • •The county must still meet all other minimum standards and keep service quality equal to or higher than before to keep its funding.

Example

A county decides to give its environmental health and sanitation programs to a new county environmental agency instead of the health department.

If the director says okay and the new agency keeps the services at the same or higher quality, the county will still get the state money for those programs.
