§ 8633 Mutual Aid Cost Reimbursement

Key Takeaways

  • •If cities or counties help each other in an emergency (but it's not a big state emergency), the state might pay for the extra costs.
  • •The Governor has to say it's okay first.
  • •The state only pays if the help follows the rules set by the government.

Example

A big forest fire starts in a small town, and nearby towns send firefighters and trucks to help put it out.

If the fire isn’t big enough for the state to call a major emergency, the small town can ask the Governor to pay for the extra help they got from other towns. The Governor will check if the help followed the rules before agreeing to pay.
