§ 71820 Court Interpreter Mediation Costs

Key Takeaways

  • •If the court and the workers' group can't agree on something after trying for a while, they can bring in a mediator to help.
  • •Both sides have to agree on who the mediator will be.
  • •The cost of the mediator is split 50-50 between the court and the workers' group.

Example

Imagine the court and the interpreters' union can't agree on how much interpreters should be paid. They keep talking but can't figure it out.

After a while, they can decide to bring in a mediator, someone both sides like, to help them agree. The court pays half of the mediator's fee, and the interpreters' union pays the other half.
