§ 57115 Voter Confirmation Of Reorganization

Key Takeaways

  • •The law says that if a group wants to change how a local area is organized (like merging two towns or changing boundaries), they have to follow specific rules.
  • •They must clearly say which areas are involved in the vote.
  • •They have to write the exact question that voters will answer.
  • •They must explain what happens if the vote passes or fails.

Example

Imagine two small towns, Town A and Town B, want to merge into one bigger town.

The leaders must hold a vote and tell everyone in both towns exactly what they’re voting on. They have to say what the new town’s rules will be and how many ‘yes’ votes are needed to make it happen.
