Key Takeaways

  • •A new city can only be created if it follows the rules and plans of the state.
  • •The new city must have enough money to pay for services like police, schools, and roads for at least 3 years.
  • •The people in charge must check reports and listen to what others say before deciding.
  • •The new city must fit with the plans of nearby areas.

Example

A group of people want to turn their big town into its own city.

The state will check if the new city has enough money to pay for things like police and schools for 3 years. They will also make sure it fits with the plans of nearby towns. If not, they won’t allow it.
