§ 50701 Revenue Bonds For Public Facilities

Key Takeaways

  • •Local governments can borrow money (by selling bonds) to build or improve public golf courses, marinas, or small boat harbors.
  • •They can also use this money to add things like parking lots, restrooms, or snack bars to make these places better for the public.
  • •They cannot force someone to sell their land to build these things.

Example

A city wants to build a new public marina with a small restaurant and a parking lot.

The city can borrow money by selling bonds to pay for the marina, restaurant, and parking lot. But they can't force a nearby homeowner to sell their land if they don't want to.
