§ 32327 Prior Service Credit Refund

• •If you were a forester, firewarden, or firefighter before and want to get credit for that time in this pension system, you might get some money back.
• •You only get back the extra money you put into another pension system that’s more than what you need for this credit.
• •The amount you need for the credit is calculated as 2% of the total salary you earned during that past job time.

Imagine you worked as a firefighter for 5 years and paid into a different pension plan. Now, you switch to this new pension system and want credit for those 5 years.

If you paid $10,000 into the old pension but only need $8,000 to get credit for those 5 years here, you’ll get $2,000 back. The $8,000 needed is 2% of the total salary you earned in those 5 years.
