§ 31984 County Pension System Election

• •If you can join this pension system, you can choose to join it instead of another county or court pension system.
• •Once you pick this system, you can't be in any other county or court pension system at the same time.
• •There might be some exceptions to this rule, but they’re listed in a different section (Section 31982).

A person works for a county and is part of the county’s pension plan. They hear about this other pension system and want to switch.

If they choose to join this new system, they have to leave the county’s pension plan. They can’t be in both at the same time.
