§ 27134 County Treasury Audit Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The county must check its money handling every year to make sure it follows the rules.
  • •This check can look at how the county invests its money and if those investments are safe.
  • •The check is done by a special group called the county treasury oversight committee.

Example

Imagine your school has a piggy bank where it keeps all its money. Every year, a group of teachers checks the piggy bank to make sure the money is being used the right way and that the school isn't taking big risks with it.

Just like the school's piggy bank check, the county has to check its money every year to make sure everything is okay. They look at how the money is invested and if it's safe.
