§ 26003 Board Conflict Transfer Rules

• •If a group of leaders (called the board of supervisors) is asked to approve something like a road or bridge, but most of them have a personal interest in it, they can't decide it themselves.
• •Instead, they must send the request to a higher court (called the superior court) to make the decision.
• •The board's clerk has to send all the papers about the request to the court.
• •The court then has the power to make the final decision.

Imagine a group of leaders in a town is asked to approve building a new bridge. But most of them own land near the bridge and would make money if it's built.

Because most of the leaders would benefit from the bridge, they can't decide fairly. So, they send the request to a court, which will decide if the bridge should be built.
