§ 23279 Election Ballot Processing Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •After voting ends, election workers must count all the votes right away.
  • •They write down how many votes each choice got and sign the paper to prove it’s correct.
  • •They lock up the ballots and the vote-count papers so no one can mess with them.

Example

After a school election for class president, the teachers count the votes as soon as the voting box closes.

They write down how many kids voted for each candidate, sign the paper to show it’s right, and then lock up the votes and the paper so no one can change anything.
