§ 23108 Del Norte County Boundaries

Key Takeaways

  • •Del Norte County is in the top-left corner of California, next to Oregon.
  • •The county starts 3 miles off the coast in the Pacific Ocean, where California and Oregon meet.
  • •Its southern border touches Humboldt County, and its eastern edge follows mountain peaks.
  • •The shape is like a box with one jagged side (the mountains).

Example

If you drive north from Humboldt County, you’ll hit Del Norte County when you cross its southern border.

The law says Del Norte’s southern edge is the same as Humboldt’s northern edge. So if you’re driving up Highway 101, you leave Humboldt and enter Del Norte when you cross that line.
