§ 23107 Contra Costa County Boundaries

Key Takeaways

  • •Contra Costa County has specific borders that start and end in the San Francisco Bay.
  • •The borders follow natural features like rivers, bays, and lines between other counties.
  • •The description uses landmarks and directions to define where the county starts and ends.
  • •This law was added in 1947 to officially set the county’s boundaries.

Example

If you drive from Marin County into Contra Costa County, you cross the border somewhere in the San Pablo Bay.

The law says the border between Marin and Contra Costa runs through the bay, so if you’re on a boat or driving near that area, you’ll know when you enter Contra Costa.
