§ 22204 Federal Retirement Coverage Agreement

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about adding groups of workers to a retirement plan agreement between the state and the federal government.
  • •The group's boss (like a city council or school board) must ask to be included in the plan before the agreement starts.
  • •The state itself isn’t considered a 'public agency' here, but some big groups (like teachers or university workers) can still ask to join if their leaders say it’s okay.

Example

A city’s firefighters want to join a special retirement plan that the state has with the federal government.

The city council (their boss) has to officially ask to join the plan before the deal starts. If they don’t ask in time, the firefighters can’t be part of it.
