§ 20135 Retirement System Conflict Resolution

Key Takeaways

  • •If a state hospital closes and workers move to county or local mental health jobs, their retirement benefits should stay fair.
  • •The board must try to fix any problems with retirement plans when workers switch jobs because of hospital closures.
  • •This rule helps make sure workers don’t lose their retirement money when their job changes.

Example

A nurse works at a state mental hospital for 20 years. The hospital closes, and she gets a job at a county mental health clinic.

The board must make sure her retirement money from the state job still counts and isn’t lost when she moves to the county job.
