§ 1777 Vacancy Officer Rights Duties

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone is chosen to fill an empty job in the government, they have to promise to do their job well (take an oath) and sometimes pay money (a bond) to make sure they do it right.
  • •Once they do that, they have the same powers and rules as the person who had the job before.
  • •They also have to do all the same things the old person had to do, like their duties and responsibilities.

Example

Imagine your school’s principal quits, and a new principal is hired to take their place.

The new principal has to promise to do a good job and follow all the rules. Once they do that, they can do everything the old principal could, like making school rules, and they have to do all the same things, like making sure the school runs smoothly.
