§ 12904 Council Vacancy Appointment Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone leaves the council early, the new person only stays until the old term ends.
  • •You need at least 4 council members present to make official decisions.

Example

A council member quits halfway through their 4-year term.

The new person picked to replace them only serves the remaining 2 years, not a full 4-year term. Also, if only 3 members show up to a meeting, they can't vote on anything important—they need at least 4.
