§ 583 Public Final Orders Publication

Key Takeaways

  • •The government must post final decisions about banks and businesses online for everyone to see.
  • •If posting a decision could hurt a bank or business, they can wait a little before posting it.
  • •If a decision has private customer info, they can hide those details before posting.

Example

A bank gets in trouble for breaking rules, and the government decides to punish them.

The government will post this punishment online so people know what happened. But if the punishment includes private info about bank customers, they’ll black out those parts before posting.
