§ 22700 License Duration And Surrender

Key Takeaways

  • •Some money-related licenses (like for lenders or brokers) stay valid until they are given up, taken away, or paused.
  • •Mortgage loan originator licenses must be renewed every year by paying a fee. If renewed, they stay valid until given up, taken away, or paused.
  • •If you want to give up a license, it takes 30 days after you ask, unless the boss (commissioner) says otherwise or if there’s a problem with your license.
  • •This rule started working on January 1, 2019.

Example

If you have a license to help people get home loans (mortgage loan originator), you must pay a fee every year to keep it.

If you don’t pay the fee, your license won’t be renewed, and you can’t legally help people with home loans anymore.
