§ 8552 Herring Roe Fishing Permits

Key Takeaways

  • •You need a special permit to catch herring fish for their eggs (roe) on a boat.
  • •Only one person can have a permit, and it must be a real person (not a company).
  • •You can't use the permit as a guarantee for loans or other promises.
  • •The person with the permit must be on the boat the whole time while fishing for herring.

Example

If you want to go fishing for herring to sell their eggs, you need a permit from the government.

Without this permit, it's against the law to catch herring for their eggs. Also, you can't lend your permit to someone else or use it to get a loan.
