§ 6702 Kelp Bed Lease Notices

Key Takeaways

  • •The government checks if kelp beds can be leased and if it's good for everyone.
  • •They tell people about the lease by putting ads in local newspapers.
  • •If more than one person wants the same kelp bed, they have to bid, and the highest bidder gets it.

Example

A company wants to lease a kelp bed to farm seaweed.

The government checks if the kelp bed is available and if leasing it is good for the public. They then put an ad in the local newspaper to tell people about it. If another company also wants the same kelp bed, both companies have to bid, and the one that offers the most money gets the lease.
