§ 6026 Fish Screen Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you put a screen in water, it must stop fish from getting into pipes or channels.
  • •The screen can't block too much water or stop the owner from taking the water they're allowed to take.
  • •The screen has to work well for both fish and water flow.

Example

A farmer puts a screen in a river to take water for crops.

The screen must stop fish from swimming into the farmer's water pipes but still let enough water through for the crops. If the screen blocks too much water or doesn't stop fish, it's not following the law.
