§ 10908 Doheny Beach Marine Refuge

This law creates a protected ocean area called the Doheny Beach Marine Life Refuge.

Key Takeaways

  • •The refuge starts 600 feet out from the high‑tide line and goes out to the ocean.
  • •It follows the line that continues from the edge of Blocks A and B of Tract No. 797 and the east breakwater of Dana Point Harbor.
  • •The area is officially set aside to protect marine life, so activities that hurt the ocean life are not allowed.

Example

A family wants to go snorkeling near Doheny State Beach.

Because the water 600 feet out from the beach is part of the refuge, they can look at fish but they cannot take any sea creatures or damage the habitat.
