§ 78303 Asparagus Commission Termination

Key Takeaways

  • •If more than half of the asparagus farmers (who grow more than half of all asparagus) ask in writing, the group that helps sell asparagus can be shut down.
  • •The request to shut down the group must happen within 90 days.
  • •People can change their mind and take their name off the request before it’s given to the boss.
  • •The request can be on many papers, but each person must write where they work so it’s easy to find.

Example

Imagine 100 farmers grow asparagus in California. 51 of them (who grow more than half of all the asparagus) sign a paper saying they don’t want the asparagus group anymore.

If they all sign within 90 days and follow the rules, the boss will shut down the group at the end of the year.
