§ 75654 Apple Commission Termination

Key Takeaways

  • •If more than half of the apple farmers (who grow and sell more than half of all apples) ask in writing, the apple group can be shut down.
  • •The request to shut down must happen within 90 days.
  • •People can change their mind and take their name off the request before it’s given to the boss.
  • •The request can be on multiple papers, but everyone must write where they work so it’s easy to check.

Example

Imagine 100 apple farmers in a state grow all the apples. 51 of them (who grow more than half of the apples) sign a paper saying they don’t want the apple group anymore. They give this paper to the boss within 90 days.

The boss checks the names and sees that more than half of the farmers (who also grow more than half of the apples) asked to shut down the group. So, the boss shuts it down at the end of the year.
