§ 78003 Producer Commission Termination

Key Takeaways

  • •If more than half of flower growers (who also make more than half the money from selling flowers) want to stop the commission, they can ask the director to end it.
  • •The request must be in writing and signed by these growers within 90 days.
  • •People can change their mind and take their name off the request before it’s given to the director.
  • •The petition must include a copy of the notice about ending the commission and clearly show where each signer’s business is located.

Example

Imagine 100 flower farmers in California. 51 of them (who also make 51% of all the money from selling flowers) sign a paper saying they want to stop the flower commission.

If they do this within 90 days and follow the rules (like including their business addresses), the director must shut down the commission at the end of the current marketing year.
