§ 74194 Commission Termination By Producers

Key Takeaways

  • •If more than half of the farmers and more than half of the wine makers want to stop the commission, they can ask the director to end it.
  • •They need to ask in writing within 90 days.
  • •People can change their mind and take their name off the request before it’s given to the director.
  • •The request doesn’t have to be on one piece of paper, but everyone must sign with their business address.

Example

Imagine a group of grape farmers and wine makers in California are tired of the rules from a commission. They want to stop it.

If 51% of the farmers (who grow most of the grapes) and 51% of the wine makers (who buy most of the grapes) sign a request within 90 days, the director has to shut down the commission. But if someone signs and then changes their mind, they can take their name off before the request is handed in.
