§ 75026 California District Boundaries

Key Takeaways

  • •California is split into two big areas called District 1 and District 2 for certain rules.
  • •District 1 is the southern part and includes counties like Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange.
  • •District 2 is everything else in California not in District 1.
  • •The people in charge can change these areas if they really agree, and the lines don’t have to follow county borders.

Example

If you live in Sacramento, you are in District 2 because Sacramento is not listed in District 1.

The law splits California into two parts. If your county isn’t in the list for District 1, you’re automatically in District 2.

§ 75026 California District Boundaries

“Districts” mean the following: (a) District 1 (Southern California) consists of the Counties of San Diego, Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern, and San Luis Obispo. (b) District 2 (Northern California) consists of all counties not included in District 1. The boundaries of any district may be changed by a two-thirds vote of the commission, which is concurred in by the director, to ensure proper representation by handlers. The boundaries need not coincide with county lines. (Amended by Stats. 1983, Ch. 857, Sec. 9.)
