§ 65061 Producer Referendum Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •This law won't start working until most producers vote 'yes' in a special vote.
  • •The vote must happen by June 1, 2020, or in a second vote if needed.
  • •If most producers don't approve, the law won't be used.

Example

Imagine a group of farmers voting on a new rule for selling their crops.

The new rule only starts if most farmers vote 'yes' in a vote. If they don't, the rule doesn't happen.
