§ 61992 Milk Market Stabilization Petitions

Key Takeaways

  • •If most milk producers (at least 65%) in an area agree on a plan, they can skip a big meeting about it.
  • •These producers must make up at least 65% of the total milk produced in that area.
  • •This rule helps big groups of milk producers make decisions faster if almost everyone agrees.

Example

Imagine 100 dairy farmers in a town. 70 of them (who also produce 70% of the town’s milk) all sign a paper saying they want a new way to sell their milk.

Because so many farmers agree (more than 65%), they don’t have to hold a big hearing to decide. They can just go ahead with their plan.

(b) Produce not less than 65 percent of the total volume of the market milk produced for the marketing area by all such producers. (Added by Stats. 1977, Ch. 1192.)
