§ 59284 Lot Noncompliance Warning Tags

Key Takeaways

  • •If a lot (like a piece of land or a group of items) doesn't follow the rules, an inspector can put a warning tag on it to say why it's being held.
  • •It's against the law for anyone (except the inspector or an officer) to remove, change, or destroy this warning tag.
  • •You also can't move or get rid of the lot unless the warning tag says you can, or you have written permission from an officer or a court order.

Example

Imagine you have a bunch of toys for sale, but some of them are broken and not safe. An inspector comes and puts a big red tag on them saying they can't be sold until they're fixed.

If you tear off that red tag or try to sell the toys anyway, you're breaking the law. You can only sell them if the tag says it's okay, or if the inspector gives you a note saying it's fine.
