§ 5925 Referendum Period Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The voting period for this referendum must be at least 10 days long.
  • •The voting period cannot be longer than 60 days.
  • •If the first voting period is less than 60 days, it can be extended, but it still can't go over 60 days total.

Example

Imagine your school is voting on a new rule, like whether to have pizza every Friday.

The principal (like the secretary in the law) says you can vote for 20 days. But if not enough kids vote, the principal can add more days to vote, but it can’t be more than 60 days total.
