§ 58750 California Agricultural Marketing Program

Key Takeaways

  • •The 'Buy California Program' helps people learn about healthy food and encourages buying food grown in California.
  • •The program works with farmers and food companies who help pay for it or give things like free ads or food samples.
  • •Every year, the program tells the government how it spent money and what it plans to do next.
  • •There’s a special bank account just for this program, and the money in it can only be used for 'Buy California' stuff.

Example

You see a sign at the grocery store that says 'Buy California' next to some strawberries.

The sign is part of the program to remind you that the strawberries were grown in California. The store or the strawberry farmer might have helped pay for the sign or given out free samples to get people to buy more California strawberries.
