§ 5782 Host-Free Period Enforcement

Key Takeaways

  • •In certain areas or times called 'host-free periods' or 'host-free districts,' some plants (called 'hosts') are not allowed.
  • •If someone grows or keeps these plants during these times or in these areas, it's considered a problem for everyone (a 'public nuisance').
  • •The government can make the person remove or destroy these plants because they're not allowed.

Example

Imagine a town decides that no one can grow sunflowers in the month of June because they attract too many bees, which can be dangerous for people who are allergic.

If someone plants sunflowers in their garden in June, the town can make them pull out the sunflowers because it's against the rules during that time.
