§ 5632 County Nuisance Abatement Lien

Key Takeaways

  • •If the county cleans up a messy or dangerous property, they can put a lien on it.
  • •The lien starts from the day the county records a notice about the mess.
  • •The property owner has to pay back the county for the cleanup costs.

Example

Your neighbor’s yard is full of trash and old cars, and the county cleans it up.

The county can make your neighbor pay for the cleanup by putting a lien on their property. This means if they sell the house, they have to pay the county back first.
