§ 55649 Processor Lien Release Bond

• •If someone sues a processor (like a company that makes or changes products) for not paying them, the processor can give the court money (a bond) instead of the product being held.
• •The money given to the court must be enough to cover what the person suing is asking for, plus extra costs.
• •If the processor does this, the court can let them have their product back while the case is going on.

A farmer sells apples to a company that makes applesauce. The company doesn’t pay the farmer, so the farmer sues and the court says the applesauce can’t be sold until the company pays.

The applesauce company can give the court enough money to cover what the farmer is asking for. If they do, the court might let them sell the applesauce while the case is still happening.
