§ 5491 Pest Control Cost Responsibility

Key Takeaways

  • •If bugs or pests are found in public places like parks or streets, the city or county must be told about it.
  • •If the city or county doesn't fix the pest problem, the state can step in and do it.
  • •The city or county has to pay for getting rid of the pests, using their own money.

Example

There are a lot of rats in a city park where kids play.

Someone tells the city about the rats. If the city doesn't do anything, the state can come in and get rid of the rats. The city then has to pay the state back for the cost of getting rid of the rats.
