§ 5433 Lien Repayment Penalty

• •If you owe money to the county and don't pay it back within 80 days, you'll get an extra 15% charge on top of what you owe.
• •This extra charge is also part of the debt, so the county can still take your property if you don't pay it.
• •The 80 days start counting from when the county officially records how much you owe.

You owe the county $1,000 for some unpaid fees, and they record this debt on January 1st.

If you don't pay the $1,000 by March 22nd (80 days later), you'll now owe $1,150 because of the 15% penalty. The county can take your property if you don't pay this new amount.
