§ 52323 County Enforcement Funding Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •The state pays for the costs of running this law using money collected from it.
  • •Every year, the state gives $120,000 to counties to help them enforce this law.
  • •The state takes its own costs first before giving money to the counties.
  • •This rule will stop working on July 1, 2027, and will be completely gone by January 1, 2031.

Example

Imagine the state has a program to keep rivers clean. The state uses money from fines collected for polluting to pay for the program.

The state takes the money it needs to run the program first. Then, it gives some money to the counties to help them catch people who pollute the rivers. This rule will not be around forever—it will end in a few years.
