§ 45033 Proof Of Ownership Documents

Key Takeaways

  • •A bill of lading, bill of sale, or similar papers can show who owns something.
  • •Even electronic records can be used to prove ownership.
  • •This rule helps companies like trucking businesses know who owns the stuff they carry.

Example

A truck driver picks up a load of fruits to deliver to a grocery store.

The driver gets a paper or an electronic record that shows the farm owns the fruits. This paper proves the farm is the owner, so the truck driver knows it’s okay to take them.
