§ 27681 Out-Of-State Inspection Reimbursement

Key Takeaways

  • •If your business is in another state and California checks it, you have to pay them back for the trip.
  • •You have 10 days to pay after you get the bill. If you don’t, California can cancel your permission to sell there.
  • •If your permission gets canceled, California can also stop anyone linked to you from getting permission to sell.
  • •California can block all your eggs from being sold there if you don’t pay.

Example

A farm in Oregon sells eggs to stores in California. California sends someone to check the farm and spends $500 on travel and hotels.

The Oregon farm gets a bill for $500. If they don’t pay within 10 days, California can cancel their permission to sell eggs there and even stop their eggs from entering the state.
